"The Tavern" was a commissioned project where the brief was to design a jester character, illustrate 3 sprite poses of him, and illustrate the bar he performs in.
Here, you can see the concept sketches I sent off to the client with the small, homey stage in a local bar. The environment needed to be warm and welcoming, perfect for your local merrymaker.
Below, is the Jester himself. Most of all, he needed to exude a small and mischievous vibe.
Jester Final Design
The Jester was made with spiky shape language to convey a playful and gremlin-like vibe. He stands widely, ready to spring into action at any moment.
The color palette was inspired by circus performer costuming.
